This double-page spread continues the house-style with the pin-board background. Due to research I decided to dedicate one page to images and the other to text.
Like other articles about music artists I showed the album cover at the end of the interview.

This is the contents page for my magazine. To continue the house-style I used the same pin-board background as the cover, the mast-head has been used again but this time situated at the top of the page. I used a peice of notebook paper to type the contents on as well as post-it notes. The breast cancer ribbon can also be seen again to connect the charity to the magazine. There are 3 original images on this page that I used as contents.

Distribution
In order to get a magazine seen by your intended audience there must be an adequate media institution behind the product in order to distribute it appropriately. With this is mind I chose IPC Media to publish the magazine which is a British institution that published other well known and established magazines such as NME, Marie Claire and Uncut. This institution publishes a range of magazines and does not have a specific audience or genre they look for.
With the help of IPC Media and a media distributor the magazine will be sold to retailers like sweet shops, beauty stores e.g. Superdrug, Boots; music shops e.g. HMV. There will also be an option to subscribe online like other media products. This distribution technique will give the magazine maximum coverage and make it highly accessible to its target audience.

Representaion
‘Unplugged’ magazine is a youthful magazine which is aimed at 16+ females, because of this the way I represent the artists and the musical genre is very important. In reference to music genre which is acoustic and soft rock for the magazine; I wanted to represent it as laid-back, relaxed, care-free, young, quaint and sentimental.
In order to achieve this I focused on the house style, the models, the vocabulary used, layout and colour. The house-style is a pin-board effect which gives it sentimental value because the audience may be able to relate to the look of the magazine, it is also very youthful and relates to teenagers putting posters up and making notes.
The model I used for the feature article is an older teenager as well as a female, which instantly helped with the representation because on the cover I am showing an image of a girl the same age as the projected audience. The mis-en-scene within the photographs show a very quaint, laid-back atmosphere and makes the images and magazine look pretty and young.
In terms of vocabulary I played on words to associate the title and the music theme. I also used words like ‘chat’ instead of ‘interview’ to give it a more care-free representation and to connect the audience. The layout is very relaxed there is no obvious structure, most features are slanted; I chose to do this because I wanted it to look thrown together: no teenager or young adult has a very structured life, I wanted to represent the magazine in a way that will attract the audience and make them feel comfortable in reading and looking at.
The colours I used are again very youthful: they are bright and attract the readers attention.

For the main task I have had to develop my photoshop skills which the preliminary task helped me to acheive, ‘Unplugged’ magazine is a lot more creative therefore I have used a range of different photoshop tools for different effects and tecniques.
Notebook Paper
To begin I had to find a good quality image of a pinboard effect background, once I found this I worked on creating the notebook paper which I made myself. The first step was to draw an off-white rectangle in photoshop. I then began to draw the lines of the paper with a normal paintbrush whilst holding shift so that the line was straight. I then used the rubber tool with a different brush head and drew a rough edge around the whole rectangle to give it a ripped look. With the normal rubber at a small size I did a line of straight hole down the left hand side for the binder holes.
Ripped Edges
Most images on both the font cover, contents and double-page spread have their edges ripped to add effect. I did this my simply using a rubber with a chalk brush on an opacity o about 85%. I found that this was a really good tecnique which helped the images blend well with the house style.
Blending
To make sure that the elements on the page didn’t look out of place and stuck on, I used the burn tool at an exposure of about 70% and went over the edges of the different features aswell as the background, this darkened the edges which made them look like they belong on the page.
Drawing Pins
The drawing pin image I retrieved from google was easily extracted using the magic wand; however I didn’t want all of the pins the same colour therefore I duplicated layer a few times and adjusted the hue to give me a range of different colour drawing pins. I also did this for the post-it notes.
Blue-tac effectOn my contents page there is a small amount of blue-tac; I created this simply by using the paint tool and different shades of blue. Although this was a very simple task I think it is really effective.

The idea I chose to go with is the pinboard house style. I chose this because I think it is quite unique and challenges forms and conventions quite well. The overall idea is aimed more at a female audience because of the femenine features and care-free theme;however with this in mind I wont purposely aim my magazine at girls: I would like to keep the market quite open.
I have arranged a photo shoot in which I will be using the same model as I did for the preliminary task. For the shoot I will be using really quaint props like watering cans and daisies as well as the grass to make it look very natural and young.
I have decided to price the magazine at £1.99 because I feel that this is a reasonable price. I have also decided to associate the magazine with a very well-known charity: the breast cancer foundation; 50% of the proceeds from the magazine sales will go to the breast cancer foundation. I chose this charity because of the likely female target audience.

In todays lesson I began to construct my contents page, because I havn’t taken my original 4 photos for the main task I left a space and continued around it, I used many new skills and effects inphotoshop to make the page look more authentic and better quality including burning, curling edges, logo creation, and extra elements
At the moment I think I am on the right trach and I am please with what I have so far. When I have taken my images I will be able to move onto the front cover and double page spread.
I used a few elements from google because they were impossible to create; however I constructed my own notebook paper background, blue-tac and curled edge of a poster. The house style of a pinboard will continue throught all parts of the magazine.
