PRODUCTION LOG – 1/10/09

1st October 2009

In today’s lesson I was carrying on with pre-production tasks, this included Smart Targets, Research into similar products and Props List. For the Smart Targets we separated them into: Research, Production and Post-production these can be found on my blog.
In terms of research today I looked at similar products in relation to stop-motion animation. Fortunately I didn’t find anything too similar to our idea which will makes our video very original which is very good. Together we also produced our Prop’s list which states everything needed in production from the technical tools to actual prop’s that will be used in the shots. This helped us a lot because we feel more on track on terms of what we need to get and what we require to create our film.

Ideas for Advanced Portfolio

The first idea we have for the advanced portfolio project is a stop-motion animation. Our idea is about a romantic dinner for two; however the romance is between the objects on the table. Shots will include spaghetti strands twisting together, salt and pepper pots dancing, and glasses clinking.
As we don’t want it to look cheesy and over-exaggerated we have decided for it to be black and white and we want it to look slightly old-fashioned with a film-grain effect. Our first song choice for this idea is Frank Sinatra – The way you look tonight.

The second idea we have is more like a music video and is also a stop-motion animation. This idea is based on facial expressions. In the post-production stage we will add hand-drawn exaggerations of facial expressions and emotions. This is a very different idea from our first one and is more about the editing than the filming; whereas the first idea is more focused on the filming and capturing of footage.
